What is the difference in truancy and chronically absent?
Chronically absent counts all absences: excused, unexcused, and suspensions and has a high negative impact on school success. Students who miss more than 10% of the school year are considered chronically absent.
Truancy is unexcused absences only. Families who continue to be truant will be required to attend a meeting with school officials and possibly a court appearance.

Today we're giving a huge thank you to our amazing custodians! Like firefighters, they are always on the job, working behind the scenes to keep our schools safe, clean, and ready for learning. We truly appreciate all you do for our students and staff! #HCS #CustodianAppreciation

Family Resource Center Director, April Couch, would like to invite everyone to attend the Hawkins County Super Bowl game this Friday night between Volunteer High School and Cherokee High School to participate in our food drive.
We are collecting boxes of cereal, noodles and mac and cheese to help stock our food pantry and support families in our community facing food insecurity.
We will be set up in front of the stadium to receive your donations.
Please bring your donation to the game and help us make a difference for those in need.

Thank you for your generosity and community spirit!

This is a reminder that the second session of Say Boo! to Bullying will be held tomorrow morning at 7:15 if you missed the one tonight. I hope to see you there!
Mrs. Barker

Mark your calendars and join us on Friday, November 7 for our Annual Fall Festival!

Black out for Black House. Please join us in wearing black this Friday, October 24th to support House Altruismo. Altruismo is the House of Givers. The central power of Altruismo members is empowering others, true strength comes from looking beyond oneself to lift up others. Their animal is the Snake, known for striking a balance between bold strength and altruistic giving. The crest features a heart (for kindness, generosity, and purity) and a diamond on a shield (for protecting others with unity and wisdom).
