Spencer Crigger finished his Junior campaign at TSSAA State Wrestling Championship in Class A for the first time. He gained valuable experience this season and will only continue to develop into a strong young man. Congratulations on your State qualification this season and being one of the best sixteen wrestlers left standing this weekend.

Today we welcomed CHMS 8th graders to VHS for a full CTE takeover! 🔥🛠️🎬👩‍⚕️ Part 1 From Welding to Vet Science, Nursing to Engineering — they toured every CTE program, stepped into classrooms and shops, and got a firsthand look at the skills that lead to real futures. Our future Falcons got to meet the instructors and hear from the students who make our programs come alive. Bowen wins his first consolation match with a decisive win 12-5! He moved into consolation match #2 looking to get back to the podium. Full rounds stats below.

TSSAA Wrestling State Championship Round 1 120 lbs Cayden Bowen narrowly misses a win in his first ever match at State with a 3-round battle with Green Hill that ended in a 10-11 heartbreak loss in the final seconds. In the first round, Cayden fell behind 1-6. The second round saw Bowen turn the tables with a reversal that closed the gap to 4-6. In the third, Cayden tied the match at 9-9 with :31 remiainf. A reversal gave his oppenent the deciding 2 points needed to win the match. Bowen was able to get back to his feet for 1 point but time ran out as he went all out for a last second takedown. Bowen will drop into the consolation bracket with opportunities to make it back to the podium and medals. 150 lbs Austin Glass won his Round of 16 match in a battle to the last whistle. Austin started the match aggressive earning 3 points for the first takedown of the match. His oppenent earned a point by getting to his feet to finish Round 1, 3-1. In the second period, Glass went right back to work with another takedown for 3 points after a standup point for his opponent adjusting the scores to 6-2. Aldridge found a late reversal to score 2 points ending the second period at 6-4 in favor of Austin. Volunteer elected to start in the down position for the third period. With a reversal, Austin got the final 2 winning points with a reversal. Aldridge was awarded three points on a questionable takedown to close the gap to the eventual final score of 8-7. Glass advanced to the Elite 8 of the State and will wrestle later today! In the Elite 8 match, Austin Glass secures his spot in the Final 4 of the State Championship with a 12-2 major decision. The win secures Austin's spot on the podium and ALL STATE finish! Austin put on a dominant technical performance with take down after take down and two near falls. He will wrestle in the Semis for his spot in the State Championship! In the Semis, Austin Glass dropped a tough match against Bull from Soddy Daisy 6-12. Austin will wrestle tomorrow in the consolation bracket to get back to the 3rd/4th place match! Glass wins by a 6-2 decision in his first consolation match and wrestles in the 3rd/4th place bout for his final match as a Falcon later today. 285 lbs Spencer Crigger drops to the consolation bracket after a Round of 16 defeat at the hands of the #1 ranked wrestler in the State. Spencer will not quit and we will see him battle his way back toward the podium later today.

A few VHS FFA members had the opportunity to go to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. They were able to explore the latest advancements in agricultural equipment and technology and see firsthand how innovation is shaping the future of farming. They also stopped by Churchill Downs and Big Four Bridge. The VHS NJROTC Rifle team participated in the Navy Nationals in Columbia, MO, this weekend.  They took 6th place, earning them a place once again at the All Service Nationals. Lieutenant Commander Chloe Davis Finished as the #1 top shooter in Navy JROTC Nation. #FalconStrong #HCSProud #NJROTC

Whether it's football or wrestling, Spencer Crigger gives his best effort every time out. His hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the sport has earned himself a ticket to the TSSAA State Championship next weekend alongside his teammates Bowen and Glass! Spencer embraced the underdog mentality today and came out victorious in his consolation match to move into the 3/4th place Sectional bout. STATE BOUND!!!

Senior, Austin Glass, checked off two goals in one week by being selected as an ETSU Roan Scholar and punching his ticket to the Wrestling State Championship next weekend. With the win, Austin will wrestle for 3rd in Sectionals alter this evening. We are proud of the student and athlete that you are. Austin finished on the Sectional podium in 3rd place after finishing 3-1 on the day. Next match, Murfreesboro!

Cayden Bowen is the first Falcon to secure his ticket to the TSSAA State Championship next week and moved on to the Sectional Championship later this evening with a 2nd round win by pin! Cayden battled hard in the Championship match to finish as Sectional Runner-Up! STATE BOUND!

Wrestling Sectional Results Tommy Saddler and Hayden Ferrell drops into the Consolation Bracket and will have a chance to wrestle back to a State berth. Tommy's season ends at the State Sectionals this season. We saw tremendous growth and heart out of Tommy all season. Congratulations and we are excited for Saddler to return the mat next season. Hayden Ferrell finished a stellar career as a Falcon wrestler today at the State Sectionals. We will miss Hayden's positive attitude and veteran leadership in the wrestling room. Spencer Crigger wins by pin under the first minute of Round 1 to advance to the Sectional Semifinals later today. Spencer drops to the consolation bracket with a win away from qualifying for State. Spencer won his third match earning his first TSSAA STATE Wrestling Championship.
