Let's start the new year with great attendance! St. Clair's attendance percentage went down a few points for the months of November and December, so lets work together to get it back up. Come to school every day! Remember to keep your student out if they have a fever or are throwing up.
For our next attendance reward Communities in Schools will be sponsoring a snowball fight! The grade level with the best average daily attendance in the month of January will get to have a snowball fight and also earn a hot chocolate bar to enjoy!

Ahoy, mateys! Let's celebrate our fantastic food service workers! They are the hearties of the galley, working day in and day out to make sure our students have the finest grub to fuel their minds and bodies for the voyage of learning. Thank you for all you do! #HCS #FoodServiceAppreciation #AhoyMatey

We had a blast at our House Party today! We all played 6 corners and chain reaction. Then we cheered on our favorite players in a house leaders vs. teachers basketball game. We wrapped up with a dance party and saw some really great moves.

Hawkins County School District is thrilled to announce and celebrate our incredible Employees of the Year! These dedicated professionals consistently go above and beyond, making a profound impact on the lives of our students and the entire school community. Their commitment, hard work, and passion are truly inspiring. Join us in congratulating this outstanding group for this well-deserved recognition! We are so fortunate to have you leading the way in Hawkins County. #HCSignite

Wow! Time flies! We've already completed half of the school year with 90 days! Congratulations to students who have missed fewer than 4 days – that’s less than 5% of the school year! You're setting yourself up for success! Positive attendance builds strong academic foundations, boosts confidence, and develops valuable habits that will benefit you throughout life.

Students who missed less than two days in the month of November got to race the St. Clair Turkeys (Coach Austin and Mr. Cruz). Race winners got to pie them in the face! Thank you Mr.Cruz and Coach Austin, for creating a fun attendance reward! Remember to be here at school every day!

Come and join us for a great family engagement reading night from 4:30 to 6! See you soon!

Today we're giving a huge shout-out to our very own superintendent, Matt Hixson! He's a true superhero for our schools, leading with dedication and a clear vision for our students' futures. We're so grateful for his incredible leadership! #HCS #SuperheroSuperintendent

What is the difference in truancy and chronically absent?
Chronically absent counts all absences: excused, unexcused, and suspensions and has a high negative impact on school success. Students who miss more than 10% of the school year are considered chronically absent.
Truancy is unexcused absences only. Families who continue to be truant will be required to attend a meeting with school officials and possibly a court appearance.
